S&P 500 Update Aug 22nd, 2013

Posted: August 22nd, 2013 under Misc/Admin.

Here is an updated chart for S&P 500 with a couple of new features: future dates are now shown as day of month as well as day of week, and I have added new and full moon indicators (the black and yellow circles above the price bars respectively. As you can see turns have been near new and full moons recently.

Current Elliott Wave counts put us either in wave 4 of the first wave down from the high, or we have completed the first wave down and are tracing a wave ii rally.

If you don’t understand the chart – see the posts here and here .

  4. The charts are based on different sets of past highs and lows. For the old line charts, these were selected by eye looking at price charts, and tend to favor more recent times – I didn’t go back a long way noting every single minor high or low.
For the new style price charts with the vertical lines for spiral clusters, the past highs and lows are selected by the program that draws the chart. So 1) there are a lot more past highs and lows since the program goes all the way back to the beginning of the data (in our case 1980) to find every minor high or low. And 2) the number of spiral clusters and the number of spirals in each cluster is larger in the new style charts. To make the charts readable, we hide all spiral clusters with 3 or less spirals coinciding on any particular day – we only show those with 4 or more. Sometimes an old-style chart has 3 spirals in a cluster, that doesn’t show up on the new style chart.

  6. That is a long time from August 28th to September 12th, without any spirals. I prefer your eyeball, with the chart showing some spiral clusters with 3 spirals. Any way to chart these automatically on a line graph including three spirals like you were doing in the old chart? Lots of work, no doubt! Thanks!

  7. Still find the old charts best.

I hope you consider posting them.
