Gold and silver had spiral clusters yesterday, and like Oil have another cluster in the middle of next week indicating they may be topping their rally.
US dollar has a cluster next week that may be the starting point of a new rally.

Stocks Rally and Metals Decline – But That Probably Wasn’t The Top

Gold – GLD and Silver – SLV

Gold made a sharp decline from yesterday’s high but I’m not yet convinced that was the top.
When silver made its top in the spring, the first big down day on May 2nd, closed below support at the bottom of the low prior to the top. Gold didn’t do this yet but should almost immediately if sentiment has truly changed. Also there are no spiral clusters near yesterdays highs on either the silver or gold charts, but there are several over the next week or so. Gold and stocks have been moving in opposite directions, and I don’t think gold can top until stocks decline significantly and all appetite for risk evaporates. Given current volatility, this can happen at any time, although our favored spots are this Friday, August 26th and the same lunar phase next month, near Sept. 25th.

Metals Ready To Resume Decline

Silver SLV and gold GLD are both lining up for at least a short term high tomorrow May 26th, 2011.
The gold rally looks like a textbook zigzag correction of the decline since the high. The rally in silver looks less complete having not yet retraced as far as the previous fourth wave high near 38. The silver rally might only be wave A of the upward correction.

Turkey Day Turn?

Posted: under Commodities, Forex, Predictions, Stocks.
Tags: , , ,

Most markets have a spiral cluster on Thanksgiving which with US markets closed Thursday and only trading a half day on Friday could mean a turn anywhere from Wednesday this week to Monday next week. Stocks usually rally going into holidays but after a sharp decline from the recent highs the direction is rather uncertain and it’s best to play it by ear as the week unfolds.

The First Cracks In The Dam

Posted: under Commodities, Forex, Misc/Admin, Stocks.

The first cracks in the dam may be appearing in the form of the October 15th low in the US Dollar which shows the weakness that has buoyed US Dollar denominated asset prices may be over. We have tops – at least for now – in the most speculative areas, gold and silver and also AAPL Apple Computer in the stock market. If the dollar continues its rally, the major indices may last through the election before following suit.

Spiral Calendar Stock Charts For September 24th, 2010

Posted: under Commodities, Forex, Predictions, Stocks.
Tags: , ,

The various September turn signals that have been shown on this site have all proved premature so far, although looking back just prior to the April 26th high we see some similar signals. We anticipate the next turn lower will be one worth waiting for.

I am starting with a chart of UUP showing the weakness in the US Dollar that is a key to many markets. A turn in the US Dollar will likely coincide with turns in many other markets. The short term spirals drawn from the August low and high respectively align with next Tuesday 9/28/2010 as a likely short term (and maybe longer term) turn date.

Stock markets – Dow, S&P 500 and Nasdaq-100 – all have potential turn dates late next week, as does Gold.
Note the spiral calendar grid for the Gold chart runs backwards from today 9/24/2010, and shows plenty of alignments a few days before past highs and lows. This coincides with a likely turn date around October 1st, 2010 – Friday next week.

I recommend clicking on each chart to see the enlarged version as browsers tend to do awful things to shrunken images, such as remove price bars entirely.
